Media Coverage

Media interest in the education dimension of the project has been considerable. On Nevis, the project has been widely reported by TV and Radio and in the Press. In Britain, the educational aspects of the project were filmed by Janice Armstrong for BBC Bristol, and used for separate BBC News transmissions. This same coverage has been used for the BBC online magazine, Black Echo Online. Press coverage has closely followed the TV publicity given to the project.

Future plans for the project were outlined to the Institute of Field Archaeologists at its annual meeting in Bangor, Wales, in April 2003. The project was well received and it is clear that the project is at present unique in enabling the participation of African-Caribbean students in an archaeological project drawing upon what is a shared multi-cultural heritage.
