55-61 Victoria Street, Bristol
Excavation being carried out in Victoria Street, Bristol An archaeological excavation was recently completed at Nos. 55-61 Victoria Street, Bristol prior to the redevelopment of the site. Victoria Street itself was constructed in the 19th century but the development also encompassed the earlier St. Thomas Street. Although later development, and World War Two bomb damage, had disturbed the site many earlier remains still survived. The St Thomas Street frontage was found to rest on medieval foundations, and a sequence of medieval garden soils and underlying drainage ditches were also recorded. Date: January 31st, 2007 | ||
