Author: Tracey Smith
An archaeological strip and map, targeted excavation and watching brief as well as a geoarchaeological evaluation were carried out prior to the construction of a new building at 66 Queen Square and 22, 23 and 23a King Street. The different phases of fieldwork exposed activity, buildings and associated features, possibly dating from the 17th century, through 1831 post-riots reconstruction, to later 19th and 20th century development.
